Mythical Characters Help Us
What Messages Do These Little People Have To Tell You?
“The development of an active mythic imagination – an awareness of myth, of symbol and archetype in our everyday lives – can enhance our understanding of who we are and our place in the world, as well as enriching and enchanting every day that we’re alive.” Sharon Blackie, The Enchanted Life, page 151.
What do these mythical characters have to tell you on this Sunday afternoon?
If we choose to see the magic in our lives, we can be happier and more joyful!
These mythical characters showed up behind me as I was focusing on the image below.
The photo above is at a memorial in Sudavik Iceland sharing the pain of their 1995 avalanche that killed so many people including eight children. One was a young cancer survivor. His mother wanted something mythical for children to ponder that all of life is connected, only driftwood passing in the landscapes of our lives. I invite you to ponder the avalanches in your life, and gather the messages of the little people as you focus on the driftwood that is still standing.
Take a few minutes of silence and let these images stir magic in your soul. Make it a part of your Sacred Sunday!
